Classrooms
All classrooms are equipped with a computer for the instructor and a projector with support for connecting a personal laptop via VGA or HDMI.
Classrooms are also equipped with standard recording equipment.[1]
Each classroom additionally contains a whiteboard suitable for use with dry-erase markers.
Instructions for operating the classroom equipment and projector are available on SharePoint.
Access
Classrooms are available to users only during building opening hours.[2]
Student access to classrooms may operate in one of the following modes:
- Open access mode
- Supervised mode — students are not permitted to remain in the classroom without an instructor present.
Classroom Use Outside Teaching Hours
Students may enter and remain in such classrooms independently on working days between 7:00 and 20:00, from the beginning of the academic year until the start of the summer holidays. At other times, an instructor must be present. See the Operating Rules for details.
Approximate classroom occupancy can be found in the Timetable portal or on the printed schedule posted outside the classroom.
For reservations related to events, contact the faculty scheduler.
For more information, see Organizing Events.
Classroom Computers
Unless stated otherwise[3], users log in to all operating systems using their CTU username and password.
The operating system can be selected from the boot menu when the computer starts.
Home directories are shared between Windows and Linux and can also be accessed remotely. For details, see Home Directories.
Please report all errors or hardware issues to the ICT department helpdesk.
For urgent issues requiring immediate attention, call the helpdesk at +420 22435 8786.
Do not attempt to fix faults yourself and do not modify or disconnect any cabling.
Using Computers During Events
For events attended by people outside CTU (for example Czechitas, Summer School, Lion Cubs, etc.), temporary accounts can be created for participants.
Please contact the ICT department helpdesk at least two weeks in advance.[4]
Users Outside FIT
If the computers are used by people outside FIT but still within CTU, the following rules apply.
- Access to Windows is available to all CTU users without restriction.
- Access to Linux is available only to users with the roles
18000-SUMA-OSOBA-CVUT,13000-SUMA-OSOBA-CVUT, or11000-SUMA-OSOBA-CVUT.[5]
For Linux access, the guest account guest may be used.
The guest user does not require a password to log in.
The guest account does not have a home directory; therefore, all data is deleted when the operating system is restarted or shut down.
- For higher-quality recordings, you may use the Recording Studio. ↩
- Instructors are permitted to enter classrooms during building opening hours regardless of the classroom access mode. ↩
- For example, in laboratories or certain specialized classrooms. ↩
- The request must include the number of accounts required, the event date, and its duration. ↩
- Roles can be verified after login in the Usermap application. ↩
