Images
Images are a special type of file. The same rules apply to working with them as to working with other files. However, it is possible to make a few additional adjustments to them.
Image Metadata
Image metadata is added to an uploaded image in the Files tab, not on the page where you are inserting the image.
Open the image details in the Files tab by clicking on its name. A card will open on the right side of the page, where you will see a preview of the image. To fill in the metadata, click the Custom Metadata tab. Here you’ll find a table with three fields: title, alt, and copyright.
- Title – Enter the title in the Title row by double-clicking the long, empty cell in the Value column
- Alt – Alt is the image caption that appears on the page if, for some reason, the image fails to load Enter it in the Alt row by double-clicking quickly on a long empty cell in the Value column
- Copyright – Enter the copyright in the Copyright row by double-clicking quickly on a long, empty cell in the Value column.
The metadata will be displayed wherever you use the image, so you won’t have to enter it again.
Multilingual Metadata
If you want to enter metadata for an image in multiple languages, select the language from the Language menu on the Custom Metadata tab.
Image Editing
Images can only be edited after they have been uploaded to the Pimcore content management system, which provides basic editing tools.
In the Files tab, click on the image to open it in the main pane on the right. Then go to the Edit tab.
- In the editing tab, you’ll find a control panel with various functions that generally work exactly the same way as in standard image-editing software.
- Be sure to save your work regularly.
- Once you’ve edited an image in the website admin panel, saved it, and closed the window, you won’t be able to undo the changes.
